This picture... actually didn't take me too long. It started out as a sketch yesterday morning, and I liked it very much so I decided to digitally color it as a warm-up for the buttload of commissions I have yet to complete. It was also a very calming piece to do, and a great way to unwind from a very high-strung week of finals.
Portrayed is my famous dire wolf character, Vile, holding one of her sons, Zodiac. Zodiac is closer to his mother than anyone else, but he's a very gloomy child. This also serves as my 'winter' piece.
I tried a new style of coloring... it surely seems a lot bolder than my previous one! Let me know if you like it, or if I should switch back. This method certainly is a LOT faster, let me tell you! And look! I did a background and actually spent TIME on it! Praise! The pine trees were fun to do.
Comments and critiques, as always, are welcomed.
Vile and image are mine - do not use, redistribute, etc. Doing such is a punishable offense under international LAW. Zodiac is copyright his Role Player and creator and used with permission.
I like this style, but you should still use your old one as well as this one. It's good to be diverse. Using them both might help you see better ways of doing each one, too.
Is a lully picture. It's interesting to see as fierce a character as Vile looking so calm. She looks a bit as though she's hovering over the snow instead of lying on it - maybe fluff her lower outlines with white a bit more so she's slightly sinking into it.

thats beautiful.. i especially love the little message it has, and how loving the two seem to be instead of 'I H8 U STFU MOM'. you've REALLY improved, love!
I like this coloring method better, as it's alot smoother looking and the outlines aren't so thick and distracting. It does look a little like she is floating over the snow, but not too badly IMO.
